Healthy Diet

She must consume food, fruits, and vegetables that high on proteins and nutrients. Any deficiency of this may affect the proper growth of the baby. Iron is extremely essential for the formation of red blood cells which carries oxygen to different parts of the mother’s body and to the baby. Hence, a pregnant woman must have eggs or bacon. Apart from this, other seasonal fruits and vegetables and nuts help in the good growth of the baby. Those who are nonvegetarians can have fish and other nonvegetarian food. This will help the pregnant woman get DHA which is an omega 3 fatty acid that plays a crucial role in significantly improving the intelligence of the baby. Nonvegetarians can get Omega 3 fatty acids from fatty fishes like tuna, salmon and herring, fish oil, liver, etc. A smaller amount of DHA is also available from poultry and egg yolk and even DHA supplements are available however take them with the consent of your gynecologist.

Apart from this a pregnant woman is most often advised to have folic acid. It is advisable that pregnant women should get at the lowest of 400 micrograms folic acid daily from their food or other supplements which will ensure good growth of the baby in the womb and well being of the pregnant woman. Doctors usually advise taking folic acid at least one month prior to conception to lower the risks of brain and spinal defects. One must be aware that any deficiency of folic acid causes improper closure of the neural tube which leads to malformation of the spinal cord and brain. Hence, it is of utmost importance that one must have folic acid, which is available from citrus fruits, broccoli, liver, green leafy vegetables, beans, etc.

The pregnant woman must gain healthy weight as it helps have a healthy baby. One must note that a mother having low weight stands a high chance to deliver a baby in premature delivery or delivering of low weight baby. According to the physicians, the IQ of a baby and its birth weight are positively correlated. Hence the weight of the baby and the intelligence of the baby is positively correlated. A pregnant woman, must along with healthy eating habits also pay attention to regular exercise. A pregnant woman must know that exercise plays a major role in improving the IQ level of a fetus. When a pregnant woman exercises, what happens in the body is that blood circulates evenly which in turn provides enough blood to the fetus. This in turn increases the availability of nutrients to the fetus. A pregnant woman must make sure she stays away from any kind of stress as it may not only harm the mother to be but also affect the health of the baby negatively.
