Pathinam Katha Amman temple Mandakolathur temple is one of the famous goddesses that is
located in a small village Mandakolathur in Polur district of Thiruvannamalai district.
The goddess here is a powerful one and is special of its kind. The presiding deity Pattinamkathan
is the kula deivam (family deity ) for many of the villages surrounding it.
The devotees dedicate themselves and perform religious tonsuring(shaving off one's hair).
The local villagers also donate the first harvest of farm-grown crops to the goddess. It is believed that
the goddesses give back plenty.

The legend says, the goddesses here came to rescue people from a great disaster that had happened
from a far away pattinam (town ). Hence she is called pattinam Katha Amman.
The groups of people worship this Amman, the first set of group of Jains pray the goddess as
Padmavati and yakshi goddesses who guarded lord Parshwanath during obstacles.
It is believed that the goddess Padmavathi in Jain heritage centre Humcha in Karnataka travelled
to Humcha after resting here in Mandakolathur.
There is another group of people who see this goddess as the incarnation of goddess Shakthi.
She is worshipped as Renugambal.
The temple has a main gopuram and a big open hall that is used during public gatherings.
There are no shops near the temple and you need to carry the pooja items.
There is a temple priest who comes here in a certain timings. He can be called for pooja by contacting
him.

There are autos and cabs from Polur that can be hired.
There are few government and private buses that ply on certain times. If you are depending on
it make sure to check the bus timings.
There is no need to worry if you are going by your own vehicle then it is very convenient.
