Ratlam is one of the most popular districts of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated in the Malwa region and was founded in 1829 by Captain Borthwick. The Ratlam districted was created after the independence of India in 1948 in the month of June. Sailana is a town situated at district Ratlam of Madhya Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 25 km from Ratlam town and is home to one of the most popular temples in India. Sailana (in Sanskrit Shaila means hills and anana means mouth) got its name due to its location at foothills.
Sailana became the capital of princely state known as Sailana state in 1736 under the rule of British. The Sailana Ka Kedareshwar Dham is located in a man-made cave that has been carved out in an igneous rock cliff. During the monsoon season, the visitors can see a small stream of water flowing from the top of the cliff to a pond in the valley. As a result of which this place is visited by maximum visitors during the monsoon. The region surrounding this temple is a popular place for a picnic. The Sailana Ka Kedareshwar Dham is an eleventh-century temple which was built in Bhumija style. This ancient temple is one of the significant Shiva temples in India.
